Featured Artists - Bit Crushers | Date Added: 4/12/08 |
|
Bit Crushers is a NYC based production duo consisting of Gaby Dershin (1/2 of Bedrock artists Astro&Glyde) and Sullivan Room’s longest running resident, Amos Damon (DJ Fame of Dubsided & Potty Mouth) first joining forces in early 2006. The two instantly sparked in the studio developing a lengthy catalogue of diverse productions with one common theme in mind, dance floor. Their different musical backgrounds have allowed them to create a new fresh sound, but still stay true to each individual’s musical tastes. Fame was brought up in the underground of New York City favoring bouncy tech-house sounds and jackin’ electro grooves. Gaby grew up on the big room vibe but soon traded it in for head boppin’ house and Ibiza buzz bass. Together as Bit Crushers, they have released originals on labels such as Little Mountain Records, Seven Limited, OMNIS Recordings, Jojo Boni, NOSI Music, Water Based, and more as well as licensing tracks to compilations and even to cell phone companies (Nokia recently chose a "Love Takes So Long" to be one of the stock songs built in to over 3 million cell phone units).
"Wanna Ride" Bit Crushers ft Kovas - Seven Limited Recordings 2008

Bit Crushers new single : “Wanna Ride?”
Remixes : Olivier Giacomotto, Tim Le El
Label: Seven Limited Records
Vinyl release : 05/01/08
SLR010
"F!!K YES. Outside the box house music. Finally things in our culture are getting moved forward... Love the vocals, absolutely no cheese here! BUY THIS!"
- Damon G, FullBodySoundSystem -
Bit Crushers, Original Mix:
On the original composition Bit Crushers throw hip-hop into the mix & enlist the services of Brooklyn native mc, ‘Kovas’ – known for his work with De La Soul, Shakira, & Nick Cannon among others. The chemistry is flawless, & the end product is straight-up electro funk. Heavy buzz bass, an undeniable anthem-style synth hook, & the sickest MC’ing you’ll ever hear over a house beat. Refreshing new sound.
Olivier Giacomotto Remix:
With 7 ‘Beatport Top 10’ hits under his belt in the last year, it seems that everything OG touches turns to funky gold. This track is no exception. Though he almost completely removes the vocal element all together, the bass groove is so intense that it doesn’t even matter. It commands the entire track, & when you add this insane, off center build-up / breakdown, it just makes it that much better.
Tim Le El / Tim Royko Remix:
There’s a reason P-Diddy & Eric Morillo are commissioning Tim for remixes. His sound is huge, musically the guy is a genius, & he maintains a strong underground feel to his remixes even on popular tracks like on his Chilli Peppers ‘Waiting For’ remix. This mix keeps a strong vocal presence, and rocks a funky buzz bass riff with crisp synth chords echoing thru, giving the track that big-room feel. The build up is 64 bars of crazy intense fore-head cringing anticipation, & when it kicks in it doesn’t disappoint. Huge track…

1. Harvey Mckay - Reflex
2. Harvey Mckay - Killer Mayonnaise
3. Harvey Mckay - Kryptonite
4. Harvey Mckay - Reflex (Zodiac Cartel Remix)
5. Harvey Mckay - Reflex (Hans Bouffmyre Remix)
For our next bout we have one of the future heavyweights of techno - Harvey Mckay.
Already featuring heavily in the sets of the worlds greatest DJ's including Umek, Slam, Silicone Soul, Perc & Gary Beck with current releases on Perc Trax, artificial silence and forthcoming EP's and an album on none other than SOMA, this lad is set for dizzy heights in 2008.
Firstly Harvey delivers the monster that is Reflex. The futuristic pads and bleeps combined with the marauding, pulsing bass and devastating beats combine to make a sure fire hit.
Next up is Killer Mayonnaise. The hypnotic vibe is thick throughout this mid-tempo work-out, with slick percussion and rolling techno rhythm, minimal fans will not be disappointed. Subtle and deep yet powerful on the dance floor.
Kryptonite takes stripped-back techno and sets beauty to a beat, pours emotions through hi-hats, sings with undulating rhythms and gives machines a tangible feeling of humanity.
The remix package comes from two future hero's of dance, both beginning to carve their names into the minds of the worlds finest.
First is a young man that if you're not already familiar with you very soon will be, it's Zodiac Cartel. Already with huge hit releases on Elite Force's Used & Abused Imprint, Lot 49, TCR and gaining support from the likes of James Zabiela, Mark Knight, Dopamine, Meat Katie, Lee Mortimer, Tom Real, Madox, Satoshi Tomiie, Lee Coombs & Tom Stephan amongst hundreds of others, he is set to have an outstanding 2008. ZC supplies a filthy tech ridden take on the original that show's why he's already held in such high regard.
Finishing off the EP is another young man set to make his mark in 2008 - Hans Bouffmyre. With huge releases on Perc Trax, Backwater Community, Plattenspieler Records, Artificial Silence, not to mention Cubism! Already gaining respect of the highest order we feel it's a perfect end to an awesome EP of techno delights!

Title: Movin Too Fast
Label: Omnis Recordings

About Bit Crushers And This Release
Based in NYC, this dynamic trio (Gaby, Amos, Hadley) are making their first appearance on Omnis with this amazing vocal – Movin’ Too Fast. And with music released and scheduled out on Little Mountain,
Seven Limited, Jojo Boni, NOSI, their own Water Based, and of course Omnis, there is much to keep an eye on.
When this lovely bit came across our desk, it was nearly impossible to turn it off. Already cued for inclusion on Tom Novy’s Toolroom Records mix compilation as well as Sullivan Room Vol2 - mixed and compiled by Bit Crushers, Movin’ Too Fast is making moves and taking names. So take your pick…

Label Release - Helvetica Recordingz | Date Added: 4/12/08 |

Title: Zeebo - Good Evil
Catalogue#: HELR024
Format: 320 kbps MP3
Genre: Deep House, Tech House, House
Welcome back all those who made it out alive from the sun, sand and silicone that is Miami! We've keyed up the next batch and are dishing up some Helvetica favorites for this sitting. Making his return after a short spell away is young Polish rising star Peter Szieb under his acronym Zeebo with Good Evil, a very powerful piece of deep house bliss. Peter's production have come a long way since his debut with us and we certainly feel this track merits the praise it deserves. This kid has a very bright future ahead of him, be sure to mark that name in the near future.
The first remixer is on our list is rising so fast its getting hard to keep up with him. Ric McClelland aka Scope (Urbantorque, Plastic City) is a man certainly at the top of his game and he rolls out for us his Lost in Mexico remix, this mix is simply put, a late night house chugger to groove your mind and soul...hear that trumpet blast baby! Personaly we think this is one of Ric's best to date and certainly shows the depth of this man's music, he came, he saw and he conquered this mix.
Our other remixers are house hold favorites at Helv HQ. Asher and Neil hail from the UK and go by the name of Rhythm Code (Rising Trax, Noir Music), they make fucking amazing music and we can't understand how these two are not ruling all of the world right now?...This mix is packed full with chunky grooves, catchy techy leads and mouth watering fx's, this mix is HUGE when played out and the chicks go wild for it, we know cause we were there. If you like your chunk and like it to funk, then this has your name on it so get well in!

|
Allen & Heath has expanded its Xone DJ range with the new Xone:42, a 4-channel DJ mixer with USB audio interface.
The Xone:42 features four dual-input stereo channels (two phono/line and two line/line), all of which have a +6 dB to "total kill" 3-band EQ, a 9-segment 3-color bar meter, gain control, and 60 mm VCA faders with illuminated x/y crossfader selection. In addition, each channel has Xone’s Voltage Control Filter via illuminated assignment switches with controls for selectable filter type, resonance, and frequency.
Something unique to this mixer is the X-FX system, which allows you to interface an external effects processor. One knob controls the proportion of the channel signal sent to the effects unit, and then the affected signal is either returned to the main mix or is routed through the filter.
The USB audio interface can be used to play back music files and to record mixes from the Xone:42; when used with certain software, it can also be used as as a digital DJ effects unit that can be patched into the X-FX system. The USB input combines with an XLR microphone input, providing an additional channel with 2-band EQ and rotary level control.
The Xone:42 also has a 45 mm VCA crossfader with curve control, and a monitoring section with split cue control, mix to cue, two headphone outputs (1/4-inch and 3.5 mm), booth output, and balanced main mix outputs on XLR.
