Mark Shimmon - DJ, producer, and owner of Decipher recordings - has been kept busy last year and this year with DJ appearances at Bedrock (with BT, Evolution and HYBRID) in June 2000, coming on after Junkie XL at the GLASTONBURY Dance Tent in front of 5,000 people, and playing at the Roxy in Prague (Czech) where Sasha and Jimmy Van M have also recently played.
UK appearances this year at Brixton’s 414 club and the legendary Dogstar and regular DJ’ing slots in Holland (for Extrema) have increased Mark’s DJ’ing side of his dual role as producer/DJ.
With a double album coming out through Pioneer, who also handle the Bedrockalbums, Mark embarked on a 2 week tour of the USA in September. The double album showcases his work as a producer and includes a live DJ mix. The album will be called Decoded and is out now!
Decipher, his record label, has just released Spacetribe’s ‘Warped’ which has had very strong support from Parks & Wilson, Sander Kleinenberg, Seb Fontaine and Danny Howells. Previous releases such as ‘Interstella’ was licensed by Nick Warren for his recent Global Underground compilation - with the likes of Anthony Pappa and Mick Wilson also heavily supporting it.
Mark also releases records under the names of Twister, Savannah and Ultrasonik which have all proven to be firm favorites with the likes of Timo Maas, John Digweed and Anthony Pappa. Sasha, Paul Van Dyk, and Pete Tong have all played his tracks on their ‘ESSENTIAL MIX’ sessions for RADIO 1 and international DJ’s such as Max Graham and Christopher Lawrence have been hammering his tracks in the USA and Canada.
As a remixer, Mark has been doing the right things on BT’s ‘Mercury & Solace’ (Pioneer), Roland Klinkenberg’s ‘Inner laugh’ (Hooj) THK’s ‘France’ (Heat), and Fortress’ ‘An Angel saved my life’ (Superstition). Muzik magazine have raved on about Roland Klinkenberg’s ‘Saurus’ (Tune Inn) as being Mark’s finest remix to date.
More recently, Jimmy Van M. has been on the phone to Pete Gawtry of Tune Inn Records saying that he is heavily supporting all of Mark’s recent tracks and remixes including ‘Dark Feelin’, Thomas Penton’s ‘Cliffhanger’ (Mark Shimmon mix), and ‘R U Out There’. High praise from the number 1 DJ in the USA.
Mark has also just had his latest track reaching #1 in the Balance Pool charts which is compiled by Chris Fortier and Jimmy Van M himself. (see below). ‘Dark Feelin’ has now been in the top 10 for three consecutive weeks.
