Martin Villeneuve (aka MV)

Martin VilleneuveAccomplished International DJ / Producer Martin Villeneuve, has definitely made an impact on the global electronic music scene. His consistency, dedication and mastery of the art form is unrivalled amongst his peers. From his early releases on Saeed & Palash’s Addictive imprint to his now classic releases on Yoshitoshi / Shinichi, MV has demonstrated his unique talent for producing genre defining records. Martin’s renowned “Hollow” track on NYC’s SAW records remains to this day the labels most licensed release gracing no less than 7 compilations worldwide. Under his Envy moniker, Martin released “Falling” on Deep Dish’s Yoshitoshi imprint which instantly became notorious as the Dish hammered it for months and included it on their legendary “GU:Moscow” compilation. His latest production a re-work of Styx “Mr. Roboto” has been hailed as the track of WMC 2005 with Sander Kleinenberg, Cevin Fisher, Steve Lawler & Palash leading the charge. MV’s Styx rework was also recently played on Pete Tong’s BBC radio 1 show. Martin’s past remixing credits include the likes of Celeda, PQM, G-Pal, Astrid Suryanto, Chris Brann, Agent 001, DJ’s Rule, Starkid, Sultan & Tonedepth, Jas, Blue Tonic World and The Stereomovers.

During the summer of 2002, Deep Dish asked MV to compile and mix alongside Behrouz the second installment of the well known In House We Trust compilation for Yoshitoshi. The double CD released in November of 2002 features a cross-section of the best material from the Yoshitoshi / Shinichi catalog. The CD received rave reviews from the media and clubbers alike.

“A compilation that not just stands up against the mix CD avalanche but straps on a snowboard and rides it in style.”...dj mag ‘02

A 15 year veteran behind the decks, MV is no stranger to the dance floor.
Through the constant touring promoting the In House We Trust CD, MV has emerged as one of the most exciting and technically sound performer in the DJ world today. His flawless sets are characterized by a unique fusion of driving tribal house, sexy vocals and tech laden progressive house. He never fails to leave a lasting impression wherever he performs. On top of holding a residency at Montreal’s notorious Stereo nightclub and his monthly Tao night in Ottawa, MV has played in some of the world’s most exotic and notable nightspots from Los Angeles to Buenos Aires with stops in Budapest, Prague, New York, Athens, Tel Aviv, Jakarta, Prague, Tokyo and Singapore. MV’s has toured in no less than 20 countries covering 4 continents in the last 2 years alone.

The summer of 2003 saw the further development of MV’s artistic vision with the launch of his own imprint Tao Recordings. Since its launch, Tao has joined the ranks of the top international electronic labels with cutting edge releases as well as licensing the Tao catalog to compilations worldwide.

With Sander Kleinenberg, Deep Dish, Steve Lawler, John Digweed, Satoshi Tomiie, Roger Sanchez and Paul Oakenfold regularly dropping MV’s productions as well as increased international recognition, it is understandable that he has further bolstered his reputation as being a leader of the new breed.
