Carlos Corcho known to many as Dj Chang was born in Manhattan, NY to a Cuban/Chinese family and it was through his Mother that he was introduced to Afro Cuban rhythms, Disco, and Rock at an early age. Because of this he took on his Mother’s maiden name Chang to stand out from the slew of Latin djs who are named Carlos.
Carlos/Dj Chang is best known for his six-year residency at Simons (FL.) from 1993-2000 where he opened for djs like Doc Martin, Tony Humphries, Mark Farina, Josh Wink, John Digweed, Green Velvet, Felix Da Housecat, Laurent Garnier, Ritchie Hawtin, John Aquaviva, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia.. This lead to numerous gigs at the Harvest Fest (Gainesville), Zen Festival (Orlando), dj Jask’s Hyde Park Café (Tampa), The Firestone (Orlando), Q-Burn’s Holy Frijoles (Orlando), Juicy at The Crobar (Miami), Zentra (Chicago), Bar B at The Paramount (Santa Fe), Aquabooty (Miami), The Velvet Couch at Club Blue (Miami), Sno Drift (San Francisco), Fuel (Miami), People Lounge (Miami), 3 Degrees at Zentra (Chicago), Winter Music Conference (Miami Beach), Industry (Toronto), Jakes Resort (Jamaica)…
Chang was also a resident dj from 2000-2002 at Club Creation in Park City, Utah; where he played at various film parties during Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival. Most notably the official New Line Cinema’s party for Hedwig & The Angry Inch, that was attended by celebrities Angelina Jolie, Samuel Jackson, Mariah Carey.. & Miramax’s Human Traffic party featuring Ritchie Hawtin & King Britt.
Fed up with mountain life Chang moved to San Francisco (2002-2003), where he produced a Dance/Music television show on SF Public Access by the name of “House Nation.” It was a bi monthly tv show which featured interviews, and music videos from local/international dj/dance music producers. During this time he started up a freeform (house/techno/electro/funk/classics) music night called Deep South with TJ Hicks (Minimal Soul/Vienna, Austria) on arrival. This lead to another weekly night called Ebb N Flow with fellow Simons’ resident Sean Ferguson. There they developed a night of eclectic downtempo & deep house music at the Canvas Gallery. Chang also played around the city in hot spots like: The Top; The End Up; Kit Kat; Lingba Lounge; Live Djs.com; Peacock Lounge; Sno Drift, SF Vibe; to Devotion – where he worked as Director of Promotions for Ruben Mancias' & Eric Baca's Devotion Records. All of this eventually lead to being accepted as an official monthly resident in San Francisco for 3 Degrees (Chicago).
Around November 2003 Dj Chang relocated to Bahrain to play for dj Mazen’s Analogue Soul events, which took place at The Country Club, The Novotel Hotel, Mondos/Diplomat Hotel, Al Bender Resort, Club L(Sheraton Hotel), Savage, The Marina Club, & Likwid. Besides this he also played for Warren Stall’s Right Direction’s, for his Mercure Hotel pool parties, Fu Restaurant promotions, Asia Restaurant nights, F1 events (Mclaren private party), Novotel Hotel beach events, and the Hotel Costes Paris party at the The Blue Elephant. Other special events have been for Ellie & Jean’s Fudge Hair Show (which aired on Lebanese TV), and dj Damien’s Xposure Beach events. Chang also held weekly residencies at Likwid (Aquasol) wth sax player Philippe Vande Wiele, at Club L for Twice As Nice Productions (Warren Stalls & dj Mazen), at Asia Restaurant, and at Mirai Restaurant’s VIP Lounge. Through this location in the Middle East he was able to play at far off places like FM4 Radio in Vienna; Austria; Open Air Castle Event in Slovakia; Beirut, Lebanon; Warsaw & Poznan, Poland; to Mixmag’s NO#1 club of 2006 in Frankfurt, Germany; Cocoon!
As of late (2007) Chang is residing back in the States in St Petersburg, Fl.; where he is producing and playing for Lifer Artists/Visions on several new projects and events. Most notably the Lifervision project which will be the first music video portal website for djs that incorporate video into their sets. Because of this Chang now also mixes music videos he specially edits & remixes in his sets, through the use of the Pioneer DVJ 1000s & DJM 800 mixer.
On the production front he worked with DJ/Producer Jask (Soulfuric Records) as The Tofu Joint on their first record “Music Takes Me High,” which was released on Erotic City Records (1996). This lead to a second release on Swanky Records called “The Yellow Sun” in 97, which featured Jask’s first remix on vinyl. Chang’s last release was in 2003 on Care Recordings with Amit Shoham (Tarantic Records) called “Island Dreams,” which featured a remix from San Francisco’s DJ Adnan.
Musically to sum up dj Chang is best known for his eclectic selection of music & moods. A selection that consists of Soulful House, Afro-Latin grooves, 70’s/80’s/90’s classics, R&B, hip hop, to Chillout Lounge sessions. Not forgetting the bigger rooms & festivals, he also is known for playing everything from Tribal Progressive, Electro, Techno, Minimal, Acid House, to Indie Rock. It is this passion for various sounds and rhythms that keeps the dancefloors, festivals, and lounges alive and full of anticipation when Chang is in the mix.

DJ Magazine, November 2003 (music review by Dan Irwin as featured in article):
"Don't know where Amit Shoham and DJ Chang are from, but from the sound of "Island Dreams", I'm guessing it's somewhere hot. This is one of those deep house records that takes awhile to get going, but let the busy percussion, live guitars, and whispered Latino vocals wash over you and they will conjure up a feeling of sultry nights on beach side dancefloors very nicely. The 'Libre Mix' jacks the energy levels up a notch or two while keeping the dub flavors of the original intact. Also listen for a wicked little bass loop and a very clever breakbeat-led breakdown."
